Calling all runners! The 2018 Fort Smith Marathon will be on Feb. 11 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’ll start in front of Belle Starr Antiques, and along with the marathon, there will be a half marathon and relays.

Get the details on the race so you can start preparing.

Expect a Tough Course

This might be one of the smaller marathons around, but it is a tough one. You are going to take the hills when you run this race, so it’s a good idea to prepare ahead of time. Build up your endurance and stamina so you can tackle those hills with grace. Otherwise, you might end up panting on the sidelines instead of coasting into first.

It’s worth noting the views are gorgeous, though. You will get rewarded for taking on those hills. Every time you look up, you will enjoy another gorgeous view.

Lots of Water Stations

The organizers do a great job of keeping water stations stocked throughout the race, and volunteers are on hand to keep you hydrated. The volunteers have really adapted to the needs of the racers over the years, too. During the first marathon, there was some uncertainty on how to hand out the water early on in the race. However, the organizers have learned quite a bit, and they’ve trained the volunteers on the proper procedures. Now, it runs like a well-oiled machine.

Superb Fan Support

It’s easier to run when you have a lot of fan support, and the Fort Smith Marathon delivers on that front. People come out in droves to cheer the runners on. That will give you a boost of adrenaline as work toward the finish line.

You’ll also get some support from the police department. They are on hand to help with crowd control, and you can tell they are into the race.

You are going to be exhausted after the Fort Smith Marathon. Think of how nice it would be to slide behind the wheel of a comfortable vehicle at the end of the race. You can do just that by picking up some new wheels from J. Pauley Toyota in Fort Smith, Arkansas. You won’t just love this vehicle on the day of the race, either. It will be the perfect set of wheels day after day and year after year.
